DAY TWENTY-EIGHT | ARE YOU DANGEROUS?

main image

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9

When we are called by God our Savior to join the company of believers, we begin to journey with Him. We follow Him as our Captain and Leader into the future. Along the way, God will stretch us. He will enlarge the horizons of our vision, and strengthen us along the way.

We profess to know a power the world cannot reckon with, yet we may feel utterly ordinary, preferring to sit passive and cautiously on the sidelines, content to let others take up God’s challenges, no threat to His enemies. Yet, we have God’s resources—His strength, His creative Spirit, His assets—and could be a powerful force for good! Oh, that God would make us dangerous!

How do we get there? Read Joshua 1 and write down everything God commands. Then reflect how these commands compare with what the Lord is calling you to do.

Prayer Focus:
Pray 2 Chronicles 15:7 for our church, “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” Ask the Lord to embolden us with strength, courage, and submission to Him to follow the path He has placed before us. Pray these traits for yourself as well.

A Prayer from Jeff Reams:
You are the Lord Almighty. No one has more power than You. You have the power over life and death, sickness and health, wind and waves. Through Your word You create and give life. Through Your sacrifice you forgave all our sins. Help us remember Your power among us. May this season of building physical buildings remind us of Your power to magnify the work of our hands beyond anything we can imagine. You do not dwell in buildings made by humans, but You dwell among Your people. Your Church does not need facilities to seek Your kingdom, but we give thanks for what You have provided and seek to use it for Your will. Help us to be strong and courageous, trusting that You will take what we do and use it in ways we never could have dreamed. We love You Lord, Amen.
