Creative Arts Camp
Creative Arts Camp
Dunwoody Baptist Church is partnering with DSA to offer an exciting camp during the week of VBS, June 9th - 12th, 2025. Creative Arts Camp (CAC) is an opportunity for students in grades 1st through 6th to get in-depth training in the arts after VBS each day. Children will have the opportunity to study with professional musicians and artists in classes like drama, singing, music, and visual arts. Please know that only children who attend VBS or VBS volunteers who are in 6th grade will be able to register for CAC.
Meet our Instructors:
Anari Terry: Performing Arts
Anari has been dancing for 9 years, 5 professionally. She has had the opportunity to grace the stage with many industry artists and choreographers. Recently, she added pro-NBA dance team experience to her resume, and she continues to train in all styles.
Anari has always loved working with children. She found that assisting them through milestones while teaching is her greatest passion, and she’d like to continue doing this for as long as possible. She has a current residency in the mobile dance company Creative Movement and Dance, teaching at many locations, including churches and after-school programs. Alongside her dream to teach, Anari also has a passion for choreographing. She hopes to one day do so overseas and eventually settle down as a studio owner.
Erika Sunday: Worship
Erika Sunday has been playing the piano and guitar since the age of 12. Growing up in a musical family, her dad was an excellent piano teacher and church Minister for 25 years. He taught her all about music, piano, guitar, and worship. Over the past 5 years, she has been blessed with the opportunity to teach piano to elementary, middle school, and high school students. As a youth leader, Ms. Erika teaches the importance of worshiping, giving, and incorporating God into daily living. In addition, over the course of 8 years, she has been playing the piano and guitar for various venues and events, such as Paulding's Next Star, while leading church worship. Ms. Erika is a gifted piano instructor and a singer and songwriter who loves to write worship music. As an Instructor, youth mentor, and worship leader, Ms. Erika hopes that everyone can experience the true love of Jesus, through relationship, fellowship, and worship!.
Nancy Bond: Performing Arts
Nancy Bond was raised in Decatur, GA less than two miles from her husband, Brent, who now works as Senior Director of Chaplaincy at North American Mission Board. They have two adult sons, Zach and Alex. Through writing, creating, and running her own business – NancyBondCreations.com - Nancy reveals a zeal and passion for the arts - especially dramatic arts. At age five, she became actively involved in writing and acting. During her youth, she regularly wrote dramas for both school and church. Since then, she’s led drama ministries at churches in Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia. Plus, for 10 years, Nancy assisted or directed state-wide, Baptist drama conferences in Ohio and Kentucky. Some may find it surprising that a person who values and cherishes expressive arts majored in Mathematics and Teaching - first at Georgia Tech and then graduating from Valdosta University. Nancy is convinced that contrary to what many have been taught, we don’t need to choose between being “right or left-brained.” That’s why Nancy strongly encourages people of all ages to get involved in creative arts such as DSA. She is extremely excited to help students open their eyes to the possibilities and ways that learning cues, enunciation, teamwork, listening, quick responses, and telling stories … will help with numerous parts of their lives. (And if there are any math questions along the way, she will be ecstatic to help.)
Pastor Robert Comeaux: Music Appreciation
Robert Comeaux is the Worship & Arts Pastor at Dunwoody Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, having served churches in Louisiana, Arizona, and Florida. He has also been an adjunct professor at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. He has taught Worship Theology to students in the Bachelor of Arts in Worship Arts program and advised in curriculum development. Robert holds a Master of Divinity in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Palm Beach Atlantic University. He has sung and recorded with the Phoenix Chorale, winning a Grammy award with the group in 2009. His passion is serving as a pastor and shepherding a team that leads people in authentic worship. He has served on the steering committee for the Experience Conference, a worship conference in Orlando, Florida, since 2013. Robert and his wife, Juliet, have three boys, Nathan, Joshua, and Michael.
.
Sarah Dooley: Performing Arts
Sarah has been involved in the Performing Arts since childhood. She has been a part of numerous productions both on and off the stage. She has experience acting as well as helping backstage on various production teams. Since joining DBC four years ago, she has been a part of multiple productions including VBS, Journey through Jerusalem, Walk to Bethlehem, and Mystery Dinner Theatre. Her calling to ministry has afforded her the privilege of working with children of all ages. One of her greatest joys is seeing children begin to build their self-confidence and take pride in something they have accomplished. She looks forward to working with DSA to help the drama students excel both on and off the stage.
Camp & Course Information
Our Creative Arts Camp will be held in the afternoons, from 12:30pm - 4pm during the Dunwoody Baptist Church's VBS week, June 9th - June 12th, 2025. Students in grades 1st through 6th will have the opportunity to take four unique classes in Visual Arts, Worship, Performing Arts, & Music Appreciation.
On the first day of camp, your child will receive a colorful drawstring bag with fun-themed related supplies that they will need for camp each day. One of the most important supplies will be their group wristband (slap bracelet)!!! We asked that they wear their wristbands and bring their bag and supplies daily. Since your child(ren) will attend the Dunwoody Baptist Church's VBS, our DSA Staff will pick them up from their VBS classroom or Worship Center and take them to lunch. To ensure that your child(ren) has a fulfilling day at camp, please send the following with your child(ren)'s name on it:
- Lunch in a closed container or lunch box
- A drinking container filled with juice or water
- A small/light snack
We ask that you drop off your child's bag and lunch before VBS by stopping by our CAC Check-in Area, located in the small "Living Room" in the Worship Center Lobby (near the East Main Entrance and across from the large Missions Board).
On Thursday, June 12th, 2025 at 6:30pm in the DBC Worship Center, the CAC students will participate in the VBS Finale for our VBS students and their families. Immediately following the event, there will be an ice cream social, where families will enjoy free ice cream, fellowship, and the chance to visit our CAC Art Gallery in the Worship Center Lobby. This will be a wonderful evening of worship, an exciting VBS summary, and art appreciation for all ages. We hope to see you there!!!
Please know that only VBS students or volunteers can attend CAC. Below is a brief description of each CAC class. After reading each course, if you have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to email our DSA team at .
