Meet our Teachers

Jane Hendrix, Director of Dunwoody School for the Arts

Jane Hendrix, Director of Dunwoody School for the Arts at Dunwoody Baptist Church, has been a voice teacher for over 30 years. She received a Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance from Converse College and a Master’s of Music from Winthrop University. Having performed regionally in opera and musical theater productions, Jane has shared her love of singing and many of her students have gone on to have careers on stage and in film.

Jane began teaching preschool music programs in 1986. She became a licensed Kindermusik Educator in 1993 and has run a successful early childhood music program at Dunwoody School for the Arts for 18 years. Jane is the Children’s Choir Coordinator at Dunwoody Baptist and develops annual summer music camps for children ages 4-16.

Jane served on the Board of Kindermusik Educators Association for 4 years and then three more years as the Chairman and Liaison for the Partnership of Kindermusik Educators. She is a member of the Kindermusik Speaker’s Bureau which consists of 6 presenters who travel throughout the United States and Canada to conduct training sessions. Her favorite training trip so far was to South Africa in the summer of 2007. Jane is also a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

Jane shares her Duluth home with her husband, David (an artist) and their dogs, Steve and Midget. Her son, Travis, graduated from Oglethorpe and is a lawyer in Macon, GA.

Natalie Filmore

Natalie McGee Filmore grew up in the Dunwoody School for the Arts program and began studying voice at the age of 7 with Jane Hendrix. She was also enrolled in piano, acting classes, import groups, and was a music camp counselor on many an occasion here at DSA and at other locations around Atlanta.

Natalie's experiences performing in Atlanta throughout her childhood and young adulthood led to life-long friendships, personal development, and a love and appreciation for the simple beauty of a melody line. The study of music also enabled Natalie to become Georgia Tech's first vocal music scholar (Opera). Natalie is truly honored to be on staff at DSA to share her knowledge of and love for music with others. Natalie has a talent for connecting with and encouraging children and truly loves to teach!
