Patrice Freeman, Jazz & Hip Hop
Patrice Freeman has been dancing since the 4th grade. Her first dance class was taken at Southern Elite in Montgomery, Alabama instructed by Jennifer Griffin. From the first moment Patrice laced up that black jazz shoe, dance has remained a major part of her life. Patrice has been trained in ballet, tap, and jazz. She went on to win first place in her high school talent show two years in a row and led her church's dance team "Pure Praise" 2006-2009. Her favorite genres are hip hop and contemporary. Patrice is currently a member of Release Dance Company. She has traveled to perform in South Carolina and North Carolina and looks forward to traveling to many other places. Patrice also teaches hip hop dance classes at Suwanee Academy of the Arts.
Patrice also has an extensive background in gymnastics and cheerleading. In 2008, she was nominated as "UCA's Cheerleader of the Year" in Colorado and in 2009, selected to become a UCA summer camp coach. Patrice has been an assistant cheer coach for Vista Ridge High School in Colorado Springs as well as a gymnastics coach at Gwinnett Gymnastics Center. In her free time, Patrice studies Japanese and French and is working on becoming fluent in both languages. When asked what dance means to her she responded, "I truly appreciate the arts in all areas of life. I believe it is important to use the gifts that I've been blessed with and I want to encourage people of all ages to do the same. To me, dance is an outward expression of an inward emotion. There is no activity like it. I love expressing my love of life through movement. When I dance, I feel joy.”
