Our Vision, Accreditation and History
Our vision is to inspire the love of learning by nurturing and educating each child within a Christ-centered environment.
Our school established in 1969 as part of Dunwoody Baptist Church. We have approximately 250 children from 6 months to 5 years of age with 41 staff members that include Classroom teachers as well as teachers for Science, Music & movement, Gym, Spanish, and Chapel.
Accreditation is a voluntary way of monitoring a school to insure that high quality standards are met while continuous school and student improvements are tracked. Our school was accredited for 14 years by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), but this is no longer a good fit for our program. Because of the academic nature of our school, Dunwoody Baptist Preschool has been awarded accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). This is the southern regional part of the world’s largest education community, AdvancED, which represents 30 states and 65 countries and serves over 15 million students each year. Through accreditation, parents can be assured that our school meets high quality standards, implements a continuous improvement process, and engages in quality assurance through internal and external reviews. SACS accredits colleges, high schools, middle and elementary schools, and now a few select preschools.
Our Mission is in believing that “Children are a gift from the Lord” (Psalm 127:3), Dunwoody Baptist Preschool provides an environment in which children grow, “And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.” (Luke 2:40). We are dedicated to the love and nurture of each child as he / she is encouraged to develop socially, spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, and physically. In a creative atmosphere, we offer age and developmentally appropriate activities that meet individual needs and encourage healthy self-esteem. Most of all, we want the children to know that they are acceptable and lovable just as God created them.
Our goal at Dunwoody Baptist Preschool is to provide a quality Christian program within our church setting that will promote the maximum growth and development of each child. We recognize the uniqueness of each child and are committed to the identification, preservation, and development of that individuality.
The staff of Dunwoody Baptist Preschool strives:
To meet each child’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and moral developmental
needs through age-appropriate curriculum and materials
To provide a safe, healthy, and stimulating environment in which to play and learn
To foster self-esteem through love and acceptance
To introduce opportunities for social interactions
To help each child develop self-discipline and problem-solving skills
To guide independence
To encourage creativity
We are dedicated to making each child’s experience positive and rewarding while at Dunwoody Baptist Preschool.
